Revver Has Found a Buyer

February 14, 2008 · No Comments

The video sharing site Revver, which never really got off the ground has found a buyer according to NewTeeVee:

[V]ideo site Revver was bought by Brad Greenspan’s LiveUniverse last night for a price “many multiples more” than the $500,000 to $1.5 million reported recently, according to a source close to the deal. Update: We now know that the price was under $5 million, so it seems our source’s math was a little optimistic. We’ll add more if we can get more specific.

Revver allows for video revenue sharing and was originally more popular because of that. The site is still popular with some content producers but web celebrities like LonelyGirl15 and Ask a Ninja have since left.

When sites like YouTube where in their infancy almost no one was doing revenue sharing, but now companies fight over popular producers. And then corporate mismanagement, and the fact normal web producers couldn’t earn much from Revver lead to the sites lackluster performance.
